SKIRT! MAGAZINE TAKES HOME THE GOLD AT THE MAGAZINE ASSOCIATION OF THE SOUTHEAST’S GAMMA AWARDS IN ATLANTA, GA
skirt! magazine wins 5 GAMMA awards
Atlanta, Georgia (May 7, 2009) – skirt! magazine, a free consumer magazine targeting women, received five GAMMA awards at the Magazine Association of the Southeast’s GAMMA Awards in Atlanta, GA on April 30, 2009. skirt! magazine was awarded three Golds in Best Design, Best Essay [“Shameful Commerce” by Hilary Meyerson, Dec. ‘08], and Best Single Issue [Feel Good: Health and Wellness, Sept ‘08]. This was skirt!’s second time entering the GAMMA awards. Charlotte Magazine, Atlanta Life and Atlanta Parent were also nominees in the category.
skirt! magazine also took home two Silver GAMMAs for Best Series and General Excellence (the highest award in their division).
The judges commented on skirt! “The combination of exciting artwork, inspirational design, and eloquent writing makes skirt! magazine a remarkable approach to feminist media. The magazine’s sassy and confident attitude resonates in the wide variety of topics and makes the reader feel as though she is part of an exclusive club all girls want to join.”
